First off, we'd like to thank all of our readers for commenting and contributing to our new source of information at ABQ Ride. We're approaching the end of our first week up, and you've all help make it a HUGE success. (We're working on our spelling, by the way. A friend told us if we first right it in microsoft word, it will tell us most of the errors). Don't forget, if you get information and want us to right a post on it, just email us at eyeonabqride@gmail.com.
So today, we got word from our sources and eyes on the 11th floor, that layoffs and furloughs are inevitable. With a budget deficit of close to 50 million dollars possible, and our new Mayor beating marty Chavez as a "fiscal conservative", there is now just no choice. Our eyes tell us that transit, solid waste and cultural services will take the first big blows.
We all know the city has big budget issues. We hear Mayor Barry is starting to look at layoffs. Anyone who been through this process before (which seems like every other year) knows its the real workers who get cut first. Drivers and mechanics mostly.
Meanwhile people with high paying jobs that have next to nothing to do with what we are supposed to be doing like moving buses and keeping them moving don't get touched.
We suggest something different.
1. What does Marketing Manager Keith Perry do all day long? We know he's out of the atc before 5 everyday (must be nice). what does he do that's more important than keeping a few drivers and mechanics employed?
2. What about all those IT people? Have you ever tried getting them to help fix a computer? What about when we need them when you can't reach them?
3. Security. What a joke! If you were ever in real trouble would any of us call Clarence Decker?
4. We loved the comment about Danny Gonzales "picking up a lot of friends kids for school". Do we need all the road supervisors we've got? If Danny likes driving so much why don't we get him behind the wheel of a bus or a van! Then he can pick up everyones kids!
Before we screw the workers, why don't we look at the people who think they're so great but don't really do anything? (mr. rizzieri, we;re looking to you on leadership for this)

Oh good lord!!
ReplyDeleteYou can "RIGHT" it in MS Word as much as you like but unless you're above a 2nd grade reading level, no spell-checker on the planet will catch the WRONG WORD if it's spelled correctly!
C'mon for chrissakes...can't one of you members of MENSA have one of your kids proof-read your Jr. High School news letter before you post it?
There was a time when the City had offered 5 thousand dollars early retirement for employees who had 23 years in by a certain date. I don't recall if this was offered because of the budget, but I don't see why this wouldn't work now. Whether they offer the money I am sure there will be some employees that would take this offer as long as the benefits stayed the same if you were to have retired with 25 years in. I think Mayor Berry should look into this.

ReplyDelete"Anonymous", you sound like a real brave person bashing others yet not saying who you are. If you had any balls you would say your name here and now. Spell checker doesn't make you a great person, don't be such a jerk. Btw, it's "Christ's sake" not "chrissakes" (i believe that is heresy - not sure if you know what that means, but it's bad). Also, "newsletter" is one word...not two. Thanks for the spelling lesson, though. Oh, no...you're not the genius you thought you were. I've got some advice though: keep putting down others to make yourself feel better about the pathetic black hole your life has always been. Maybe someday that will work out for you. FYI, you are going online and reading this "jr. High School" newsletter because you have nothing better to do. That high school must be really important...you capitalizing it, and all.
ReplyDeleteSo everyone knows, we responded to the above comments late last night regarding an important pay issue. Someone named "Manny" made such a hateful comment about someone we felt obligated to remove it. We realize this blog is about open information, but some things are just too wrong and we felt that needed to be taken care of.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I have seen, Keith Perry comes in to work around 6:30 or 7:00 and rarely takes a lunch break. It is really unfair to judge someone when you don't know what they do. There is more to running a transit department than mechanics and bus drivers.
ReplyDelete"Chrissakes"...This is an attempt at reproducing the expression as it sounds when spoken by some speakers, much like writing "wanna" for "want to."
ReplyDeleteIt is tempting...but I don't want to get into a battle of intelligence with an unarmed man.
It's funny that "Pete" picks out "chrissakes" but doesn't say a word about the use of "c'mon".
ReplyDeleteI guess that one is understood and acceptable but the other isn't.
He talks about the improper use of capitalization and yet fails to capitalize the first word following a colon.
Get a clue gomer.
Pete, I'm not "hanging around here".
ReplyDeleteI was told that this was the place to go to find out what is "really happening" in Transit.
What I found is, a bunch of old ladies gossiping about other people.
If I wasn't sure of it before, now I am sure that the Transit Dept. is FULL of lazy, illiterate malcontents who are damn LUCKY that they aren't drawing unemployment checks on a weekly basis.
Don't worry about it Pete, you won't be seeing my ass hanging around with this bunch of losers.
Why is everyone talking about grammar? They are internet comments. Who the hell cares? It is all beside the issue. Maybe the authors of this site could create a new post on grammar and let all of you argue there. That way it would actually be relevant to the topic.
ReplyDeleteI agree with "Why is everyone talking about grammer?" The point is being made, just a bunch of idiots that are bored with their life! And don't have anything else to do.
ReplyDeleteAs you can see I spelled grammar...grammer LOL!
ReplyDeleteHard to determine which is more interesting. this website of the Saints/Vikings game
