ANNETTE'S P-30 - WHERE IS IT???

We've done many posts on the difference between how management treats itself and how the people who do the actual work get treated. Here's another.

From what we're told Annette Paez (who holds the title of Operations Manager but can't seem to manage her self) was out "sick" for three days in May. Problem is, apparently NO P-30 was submitted so that time was't deducted from her sick balance.

No surprises there to anyone who's been around this department very long. Blue collar is watched like hawks and managers cover for each other. How else can you explain the HUNDREDS and THOUSANDS of hours of VACATION and SICK leave some of these clowns (ESPECIALLY THE ROAD SUPERVISORS) have in their buckets.

They call in sick. They go on vacation. BUT THEY DON'T TURN IN THE P-30, that's how!!!!

Looks like they're just following the boss's lead. Go out "sick". Don't turn in a P-30.

SO HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!!

OH, WAIT. MOST OF US HAVE TO WORK ON THE 4TH BECAUSE THE CLOWNS IN CHARGE ARE once again SCREWING US OVER BECAUSE THEIR SO BUSY LOOKING OUT FOR THEMSELVES!!!

After much deliberation, and the realization that this blog has done what it set out to do - expose the phonies, the eyes have set a shut down date for next week of the eyeonabqride blog. We've had some good times, influenced important decisions and exposed some bad people for who they really are.

Unfortunately, this was the only picture we could find of Bruce, but that's him...in the front of the room speaking to a small crowd. But if you go down to the end of this post...you'll see a computer generated pic of what he will soon look like. :-)

We recently recieved an anonymous email from someone regarding a very bizarre issue going on in upper management right now. Rumor has it that Director Bruce "Medicine Chest" Rizzieri (whose been director for almost eight months now) was at a accident scene and asked one of his road supervisors where the road supervisor was. Feeling stupider than usual since being told "I am the road supervisor", Rizzieri was faced with a choice:

a) get to know his supervisors better or

b) find some other way to figure out who they are.

Looks like Rizzieri is going with "b)" because NEW COLORED JACKETS ARE ON THE WAY.

The scuttlebutt is, YES, the city is "broke". Yes, were having our pay cut next month. Yes, positions are going unfilled.

YES, Rizzieri is going have his managers wear differently colored jackets so he can tell who at Transit is a M-18, M-16, M-15, M-14, etc...

Sad but true. Maybe its time to ease up on the pills. More to come.

PRO UNION & PRO-UD!!!!

We'v seen some snarky attacks on the union in our comments sectin lately and thought it was time to remind management (Selinda) that odd are she'll be leaving the city before the union does. That's because the union represents the MAJORITY of the people who work in this department. Remember that! We out number people like you!!

If it weren't for people like Andrew Padilla and Steve Griego, Mayor Berry woud have cut our pay and benefits even further or forced us to take more unpaid "holidays". While Wonder Breads like RJ and Bruce Rizzieri look after their own hand picked favorites (will Selinda EVER face disciplinary action for a criminal record that would have gotten anyone else FIRED?????), our UNION fights for ALL OF US.

In the case the message isn't coming across, this blog is PRO-UNION and PRO-UD of it!!!

We hear at City Hall Eugene Moser, the City's Director of HR, is FUMING that he had to go on camera and cover this Transit (er...Selinda) screw-up. We wonder, why Selinda would go after so many others yet is perfectly fine with sending someone home with 13K over six months for sitting at home. Did this driver have something on her? Or is she just incompetent? Or did this driver even deserve his suspension? These questions are sure to be answered in the days ahead...

Also, nice try overlords, but this driver was not fired "last week", he was fired only after the media began digging!!!

The Rap Sheet Continues for "Sinful" Selinda - Tucumcari Chapter

Still no word from Timothy White, apologizing for his comments. So the FACTS on Ms. Guerrero will continue to be posted...

Apparently (and we have no idea why she'd be there) Selinda was in Tucumcari a couple of years ago. You can check the link here.

Again, the question remains...what was she doing in Tucumcari, and not at the ATC where she supposedly "works."

On 3/5/09 Selinda was charged with:

1. driving with a revoked or suspended license (from the DWI she's rumored to have)

2. speeding by 21-25 MPH OVER the limit (wonder if one of her kids was in the car?) and;

3. careless driving.

She must have missed some court dates, because bench warrants were sent out, though we're not sure if she was handcuffed, like she was at the ATC last month.

At this point, Selinda shouldn't be riding the bus because she works for transit, she should be riding the bus because it's the ONLY legal way for her to get around, and also maybe we'll all be a little safer.

CUFFED AT THE ATC

No word from Timothy White (STUPID!!!) so the posts will go on.

A couple of weeks ago employees, visitors and the general public got to see ABQ RIDE's Personnel Officer, Selinda Guerrero, escorted out of the ATC by two uniformed and armed APD officers who handcuffed Guerrero and took her to Metro Court in the back of a squad car.

We're told the only reason Guerrero wasn't cuffed in her office is because cried and begged the officers not to walk her out in front of the employees with cuffs on.

Word is that Guerrero is telling everyone (especially Director Rizzieri) that she got picked up for unpaid parking tickets. If that's the case that story is BULLSHIT.

Here's the truth according to Metro Court on criminal case # CR821510

On Thursday April 15, 2010 Guerrero was pulled over at Academy and Seagull St. At 10:14 am (why wasn't she at work????) by Officer D. Quintana. Guerrero was cited for:

DRIVING ON A REVOKED LICENSE (why was her license revoked???)

DRIVING WITH EXPIRED LICENSE PLATES

NO INSURANCE

NO REGSITRATION

REVOKED license is a little more serious than parking tickets. That's not why she got arrested at the ATC. She was arrested because she FAILED to appear in court on May 13 at 8 am to address the above charges and Judge Sandra Clinton issued a warrant for her arrest.

Remember, Guerrero is the person "RESPONSIBLE" for everyone's personnel records and files and disciplinary actions but she is anything BUT responsible when it comes to following the law. As one of our sources said, "She can't even run her own life. Why is she running ours?"

Guerrero's arrest and this case is just the beginning. THIS IS JUST ONE OF HER MANY BRUSHES WITH THE LAW. There's more to come.

It might not seem like who the Governor of the state is should matter to city employees but with a Republican mayor dissing our union reps (see post on Andrew Padilla) and a Sarah Palin clone now the choice for voters its clear that it does matter.

If you care about your jobs, if you care about our union, if you care about having a Governor who cares about us then we need to support DIANE DENISH!!!

Mayor Berry has already endorsed Susanna Martinez. No surprise there. Berry cut our pay, our benefits and left critical positions unfilled.

Expect the same BS from a Gov Martinez.

Now is no time for sitting on the sidelines. Get out and VOTE and WORK for Lt. Governor DIANE DENISH for for GOVERNOR!

Call the Local Union or the Denish Campaign or the state Democrat HQ and GET INVOLVED!!! It's do or DI time!!!!!!!

Associate Director: GOING, GOING, GONE...

Along with some of our pay and benefits, when Mayor Berry signs off on the budget the City Council approved last week (which it seems very likely he will) another thing being cut is the position of Associate Director. At least it isn't funded. That puts a number of people (see post here) in the awkward and weird position of having gone all out sucking up to Director Rizzieri only to learn they sucked up for no good reason.

Bummer!!

This just in from our sources at City Hall: Transit is about to get a new Personnel Director. In the immortal words of Donald Trump - SELINDA GUERRERO - "You're fired!"

Seems that not only the previous Human Resources Director (Pat Miller) didn't like Ms. Guerrero but the new one (Eugene Moser) likes her even less and is taking to steps to either move her out of Transit or put someone else in charge of Personnel.

We're no fan of Guerrero. She plays favorites BIG TIME. Protecting people she likes (how often is her assistant out sick on FMLA on Fridays and Mondays???!!). Hiring her friends. Then sweeping her DWI arrest under the carpet. This move is long overdue.

SO LONG, SELINDA! YOU WILL NOT BE MISSED!!

BROKEBACK INFO TABLE

This story was emailed to us last weekend by an anonymous reader...we thought it too interesting not to post. Can you guess who these two office workers were? Whoever guesses correctly gets a free sick leave day ;-)

One male co-worker propositions another male co-worker.

"Hey," he says to his Marketing colleague. "Instead of doing this stupid info table, why don't we get a room for the afternoon? Who'll know ?"

Anyone who knows Bruce Rizzieri and Keith Perry knows the answer is "No one". Wives, children and the cook at your restaurant included. Ditch them and your job for some Afternoon Delight? No prob!!

Sometimes the "heads up" sent our way is too good to be true: marketing managers taking three hour lunches. Drinking. Driving city vehicles. Leaving in the middle of the day to get a head start on the weekend.

Then we get stuff like this that's straight out of a soap opera. Or ABQ Ride.

Maybe the above "BROKEBACK INTO TABLE" scenario happend. Two co-workers decided to give in to desire and let their passions get the better of them. Maybe one had to spurn the other's advance because his other Boy Toy really knows how to work it and the smaller co-worker just wasn't his type.

Who knows?

Then again... Maybe we kmow a little too much already.

In one of the comments regarding marketing's 3-hour lunch extravaganza last week, a very appreciated reader points out that there is a wine glass on the table in front of either Dee or katherine. Look again...

Some of our eyes have eaten at Marcello's, and one points out:

"They only serve wine in the wine glasses at Marcello's chophouse. In fact, when you order your drinks if you don't order wine, they take the wine glasses away. So not only do these princeesses get to have 3 hour lunches, but they're drinking on city time? Why don't their bosses keith perry and/or director rizzieri reprimand them for this? At the very least a letter? This is bullshit. We all know everyone reads this blog but everyone pretends no one does." -Anonymous e-mail

More time wasted to discuss "mission statements", Annette afraid of the Eyes

Our eyes tell us a meeting was conducted this week to discuss "mission statements" for the transit department: what are we doing, where should we be going, etc. This, at a time when really all we need to do is get rid of waste so that the people that actually work hard don't have to lose their benefits and take pay cuts!!!

Unbelievable. And the great Annette Paez, we're told, was - as usual - complaining. But this time she takes hipocrisy to a new level. Annette was complaining that there was no communication between the upper management and the drivers!!!

Hey Annette, isn't it your job as Operations Manager to ensure good communications b/w the ATC and it's drivers?!? Or is that the job of your enslaved lover-boy Danny Gonzales?

A YOUNG ANNETTE PAEZ? :-)

Annette also mentioned that this would all be on the blog, in the meeting. Very astute observation Annette. Don't forget, our eyes are everywhere and you of all people shall never escape their wrath.

MARKETING MANAGER DEE CAWLEY LUNCH SCANDEL UPDATE: SHAME ON YOU DEE CAWLEY

Our eyes tell us Marketing Manageer Dee Cawley was none to happy yesterday when our eyes caught her and some of her staff taking a lunch that lasted about 3 hours including drive time, at a high end ABQ restaurant. Reports flooded in that Cawley was worried her co-workers had "set her up" in some sort of elite spy operation.

Rest assured Ms. Cawley, our eyes are EVERYWHERE. You cannot escape their gaze, so why bother trying. We'd love to hear your assessment of the situation, but we're assuming you are much too cowardly to let us know. As always, eyeonabqride@gmail.com is the best way to state your case.

The other issue this brings up is that Dee clearly doesn't care much about her employees, subjecting them - even forcing them - to attend long overdrawn expensive lunches that may or may not get them in trouble with the bosses. Shame on you Dee, Shame on you.

Marketing: Flex Time or abuse of the system?

And if that wasn't enough, folks...just as we predicted, the Marketing Division of Transit has begun the weekend early, led by their fearless - wait I mean FULL OF FEAR - leader, Keith Perry. As of 2pm, most of Marketing had already checked out and headed home while the rest of us keep this place afloat.

Why is it, that the M-14's and higher get to sit in their cushy offices, surf the internet and basically do NOTHING, while the rest of us have to do the actual things that keep transit moving?

Maybe the people that do NOTHING should be the ones to get the pay cut, not everyone like the drivers, mechanics, csr's, etc. who actually work hard.

Our eyes tell us that Keith Perry, Katherine Anzures, Valerie Valencia, Dee Cawley and others have already checked out to begin their weekend. Once again, must be nice.

They always call it "flex time", whatever that means. They consistently talk about how hard they work sitting at information tables, going to fun events, and taking 2+ hour lunches at expensive high-end restaurants - YET THEY"RE NEVER IN THE OFFICE AND CONSISTENTLY LEAVE EARLY ALMOST EVERY DAY!!! But what we want to know, is what do they do exactly? What's their purpose? What does having a fashion show in the middle of the day do to increase bus or sun van ridership - which is too high to handle already?!?

Your move Rizzieri. If we were mayor Berry, we'd be taking a long hard look at those jobs when you're cutting the workers salaries which are too low already.

Mayor Chavez - maybe he wasn't so bad

This picture was sent to us via email by one of our loyal readers. It begs the question, was Marty really as bad as we all thought? Marty never cut our pay, in fact...he gave us raises every year!!!

Maybe mayor Berry and his loyal minion Bruce Rizzieri need to stop giving huge raises to the already outrageiously bloated salaries of his top aids like David Campbell and Darren White's 2 press people while cutting our salaries across the board, and start looking out for the people that got him to where he is today.

IT MUST BE NICE

Here's a picture you'll never see a driver, a mechanic or a CSR in: a long, lingering TWO HOUR weekday lunch at Marcello's Chophouse, one of the most EXPENSIVE restaurants in Albuquerque. That's right, while most of us were busting our asses trying to keep this place together MANAGEMENT was having a much different experience than the rest of us peons.

The person who notified us and sent this pic identified two of the lunchtime loafers as DEE CAWLEY and KATHERINE ANZARES from that absolutely essential division of Transit: MARKETING.

This friendly eye reports that Cawley and Anzares were at Marcello's from approximately 11:30am until 1:30pm. That doesn't include drive time from Downtown, which is about 20 minutes each way.

While the rest of us have to wolf down a packed lunch while driving or during a 15 or 30 minute lunch break, these 2 princesses spent almost a THIRD of their "work" day doing lunch.

Questions:

1) WHAT THE HELL?!?
2) Who paid for lunch?
3) What was so important that it took two hours to discuss?
4) Is this how these 2 will justify leaving work early tomorrow - it's "flex time" because they didn't have their own lunch break today?
5) Where is division manager Keith Perry in all this - does the buffoon have any clue what his people are up to?

Remember this photo the next time management tells us they care about us!!! They don;t. THATS WHY THEY'RE CUTTING OUR PAY AND BENEFITS. They have no idea what the real world is like. There's nothing real about the world they live in.

RJ Berry - The "PRAYER MAYOR"

Last Friday's Albuquerque Journal featured a big front page of Metro photo of Mayor Berry that was just weird, scary, spooky and disturbing. He's standing in the middle of prayer circle (at least we assume that's what it is) in the middle of Civic Plaza. People are around him laying hands on him, reaching their hands out to him. They may even be speaking in tongues. Who knows. What we do know is that Berry made sure the Journal was there to take his picture while his prayer groupies prayed for him. Classic.

The picture raises all sorts of questions about this guy. First and foremost, yes we wanted to get rid of Marty but WTF did we replace him with??!!

The answer is, a guy - the Prayer Mayor - who gets the following answers to his prayers:

* God wants The Prayer Mayor to balance the City budget by cutting our salaries.

* God wants The Prayer Mayor to go after our health and retirement benefits, too.

* God doesn't want The Prayer Mayor to work with our unions.

* God wants The Prayer Mayor to take it easy on the privatized 311 Call Center and dump all their calls on our understaffed, underpaid Customer Service Representatives.

While putting this together we had an e-mail forwarded to us that's making the rounds at City Hall on this very subject. It's from none other than our illustrious former Director Greg Payne who very humorously rips Berry a new one for his fondnes for "photographed prayer".

We didn't know it but Payne points out this isn't the first time Berry had himself photgraphed while praying. A few months ago the Journal photographed The Prayer Mayor at his own home with his wife and kid at the dinner table (PHONY!!!!). Folks, it doesn't get any more staged than that.

Payne referenced a Bible scripture, Matthew 6:5 that we had to look up. After we did, we thought it would be a good way to end this post. It tells you everything you need to know about RJ Berry - THE PRAYER MAYOR.

Anyone who has been following the media coverage would think Andrew Padilla, one of our union leaders, is totally opposed to doing anything to solve the city’s budget crises. After weeks of one-sided coverage from the Albuquerque Urinal, Andrew finally got his day in front of the City Council. He and our other union brothers and sisters did us proud.

There argument, which the Urinal refuses to print, is basically, how can R.J. Berry claim the City is broke while paying his top staff MORE money, hiring MORE staff (especially for Darren White) and issuing no-bid contracts like the one for $50,000 for a union negotiater? Meanwhile, Mayor McClueless wants to cut the pay of people struggling to get by on $35,000. Political blogger Joe Monahan is one of the few who has mentioned the subject while the Urinal continued to parrot the spin of the Berry administration.

Watching him last Thursday we could tell Andrew had been put through the ringer. We want him to know A LOT of us appreciate his efforts. Berry and the Journal will fight for the fat cats until the city is bled dry. We’re glad we have Andrew and his team doing everything they can to stop it.

Cutting positions, cutting pay, no more balls?!?

For anyone that drives by the electronic billboards in town, you'll notice the new Mayor, Richard "RJ" Berry, and his wife Maria are hosting a "Gala" benefit...in lieu of the former Mayor Chavezs' Mayor's "Ball".

Cutting positions like associate director of transit, cutting salaries by 3% and probably furloughs and more layoffs in the future have been Mr. Berry's solutions to our budget problem. It's so nice he has the time and energy to not only hire more exempt employees than the former Mayor, that get paid more too by the way, but Mr. Berry also has time to throw a Gala! Must be nice to be able to have so much fun while the rest of us that don't make nearly enough as it is, get pay cuts.

Thanks Mayor Berry, keep up the good work! Our eyes also saw the current Mayor Berry yucking it up with his minions at the Isotopes opener last night. He must be having a ball as mayor, or at least a Gala! Say what you will about former mayor chavez, but at least he made sure we got regular pay increases, and he didn't have any Gala's...Mayor Chavez at least had BALLS!

Can you match the names to the pictures? While furloughs, pay cuts of 3% and even talks of layoffs continue, the cast of characters vying for the Asociate director position at transit, continue to suck up and kiss ass to their master Bruce Rizzieri and we're sure anyone else they can find that they know on the 11th floor.

The funny thing is, this position may never be filled, not with the way the city is struggling with it's budget crisis, and surely not for at least another 2 years will it even be talked about. Yet these 4 and who knows who else keep kissing ass and doing whatever they can to suck up to Rizzieri and the mayor's staff. Yet, they all routinely come and go as they please, leave early, show up late and don't ever seem to be doing any real work.

Get on these people, Bruce, to either contribute or be fired. Oh wait, the union would never let that happen...not in a million years. Well maybe you could at least demote them, teh rest of us know one thing...none of them should be associate director, that's for sure.

UPDATE: Transit Fashion Director Gets Head Start on the Weekend

Keith Perry, the brain's behind yesterday's fashion show fiasco, got a head start on the weekend we're told, leaving work just before 3 o'clock friday afternoon.

Things are so bad at the city that pay raises are being taken back, pay cuts are imminent, positions are going unfilled and their may even be furloughs and layoffs.

Response from Transit upper management? Throw a fashion show on April Fool's Day then take off before the end of the workday on Friday to congratulate yourself for all you hard work.

Of course Perry couldn't get away with it if Bruce Rizzieri didn't let him. So here's to you, ABQ RIDE's "Real Men of Genius"! Have an ice cold Bud light this afternoon while the rest of us sweat out our jobs and our pay checks.

UPDATE: mastermind behind fashion show

So, our eyes have informed us, that is was no other than the brilliant Keith Perry from marketing/planning that came up with the idea for the fashion show. Some folks had been giving us holy hell for seemingly attacking the meek and helpless Mr. Perry...but after conintued stunts like this, why wouldn't we?!? This guy not only wastes taxpayer dollars by leaving early everyday and not working hard AT ALL, but apparently fashion shows are more important than people's salaries. Good job Keith. What, did you need a date so bad you had to hire broads to come to the ATC for a mock fashion show? And I would like to know if everyone filled out a p30...but i seriously doubt anyone did. This is just another example of a "work-filled" day at the ATC, while the rest of us worry if we're going to be able to pay rent next month. Thanks again Keith and management.

Budget crunch, layoffs, furloughs...fashion shows?!?

So, the city is in a huge crisis, positions aren't being filled...and it looks like layoffs, higher taxes, etc. may be on the way. Yet, today...instead of finding ways to save money so people with families can keep their salraieys, or working diligiently at their jobs...we head the marketing division hosted a "fashion show" at the ATC today.

A FASHION SHOW?!?

Cutting salaries? Fashion show. Not filling Vacant positions? Fashion show. Can't make the Sun Van run on time? Fashion show.

Great job, Bruce...keep up the good work. Pathetic!

SunVan and the CSRs – making customers VERY unhappy

We received an e-mail tip that tomorrow’s meeting of the Paratransit Advisory Board

(10:30 am at the ATC) should be a real doozy with the Board and a growing majority of SunVan passengers in an “angry mob unpopular” state of mind.

There seems to be two things driving their outrage. For whatever reasons, Bruce Rizzieri changed the way SunVan passengers can book their rides. The first whiff of displeasure this change came in this February 26 story that aired on KOB TV: KOB.com - Riders complain about transit service for disabled

The second problem (which is mentioned in the KOB story) is the lack of customer service displayed by our Customer Service Representatives (CSRs). Our anonymous tipsters says SunVan passengers are so angry with how they’re being treated that they have been taping their phone conversations with the CSRs and plan to go public tomorrow with the results.

Look for the sparks to fly tomorrow morning at 10:30 am at the ATC!

Danny Gonzales promoted: what a shocker...NOT!

Well, it was bound to happen at some point. Annette's lap dog, Danny Gonzales, was recently promoted to Assistant Operations Manager, our eyes at the ATC tell us. Not a big surprise, coming from the fact that Annette Paez has him do everything for her, even pick up her kid and probably buy her groceries for her. She loves to have beta-males at her beck and call.

We thought Rizzieri might stand up and actually hire someone good, who would be good for the drivers and everyone else...but he just went with Annette's bidding, b/c Bruce doesn't do very well with confrontation unfortunately.

We'd like to hear your thoughts on this mis-hiring...

KOB story on SunVan; who's fault is it?

Leadership under Payne had it's ups and downs, but he never threw the drivers and customer service people under the bus. Rizzieri seems to be blaming all the customer service workers and drivers for being rude and late. Well, Bruce, maybe your new rules just aren't as great as you think they are. One thing is for sure, Annette should take a lot of the blame for this. Maybe if she showed up to work more things would go more smoothly.

Cutting costs in a rough economy is one thing, but cutting services to people with multipl scerosis? We here think that is just plain wrong. And blaming the workers for the bad system you put in place? Even wronger.

Investigations in ABQ Ride: fair or biased?

Our eyes are telling us many things regarding investigations into employees lately. Originally it was reported that Selinda, finally, was going to face some sort punishment for her blatant abuse and illegal acts of using city cars with a suspended drivers license...but that apparently has been put on hold along with countless other serious infractions, while management continues to punish the workers for minor infractions that aren't nearly as big a deal.

One investigation, overheard at a water cooler, was simply someone lower on the food chain...who left 10 minutes early one day. Investigating someone for leaving 10 minutes early, this is a new low!!! We've all seen people like Keith Perry leave 10 or 15 minutes early on a regular basis...not to mention freakin' Annette...who leaves at 10am some days, and we know she's not going to take care of her child...she leaves Danny Gonzales's bloated paycheck for that. Give us a break and stop trying to screw over all the people that actually work hard, management...and go after the real criminals and people that waste taxpayer dollars and break the law; a good start: ANNETTE and SELINDA!!!!

Get to it Mr. Rizzieri, and we'll praise you on our blog. But until then, you're gonna have to continue to take the heat.

We also heard from some of our eyes recently that they said this blog was libelous to certain people. Well, we'll tell you one thing...it's not libelous when its true! And we think most of our readers who actually work at the department already know these things are true, we're just printing them for everyone to see. City Puts Brakes on Driver's Return

The city has reversed course and says it will challenge the reinstatement of a bus driver who pleaded no contest to attempted child molestation several years ago and successfully appealed his firing.
"The city believes it is not in the public's best interest that this individual be allowed to drive a city bus," according to a statement issued by Mayor Richard Berry's office Wednesday. "The Berry administration is pursuing all legal options in this matter, including the appeal in District Court."
The city said the driver, Paul Salazar, is not reporting for any duty and is not driving a bus.
David Campbell, the city's chief administrative officer, indicated last week that Salazar would go back to work, telling the Journal that the administration of former Mayor Martin Chávez had not appealed the last personnel board decision ordering Salazar's reinstatement.
But it had filed an appeal, which is pending in state District Court.
On Tuesday, Campbell said his erroneous conclusion was based on an online review of the case. Campbell said he has since found out that an appeal was indeed filed, but as a separate case.
City officials Wednesday said they would pursue the appeal.
Salazar was fired by transit officials in 2007 after it was learned he had pleaded no contest to attempted criminal sexual contact of a minor and failed to notify his supervisor.
Salazar maintained his innocence and challenged his firing. That led to the personnel board reinstating him based on a recommendation from a personnel hearing officer; the city's appeal to District Court, which sent the case back to the hearing officer and the personnel board, which again upheld reinstatement; and another appeal to the court last year.
Former city Transit Director Greg Payne, who served under the Chávez administration, has publicly criticized the reinstatement.
The reinstatement, with back pay and benefits, had followed rulings that the city didn't conduct a fair investigation and that it didn't properly notify Salazar of the reason he was being fired.
Also, the hearing officer said, the policy requiring employees to notify supervisors when they reach a plea only applies to people who are required to register as sex offenders on the state registry. Salazar was not required to do so.
Although city officials have made it clear that Salazar is not driving a bus and don't believe he should be allowed to, Salazar's attorney, Paul Livingston, said he had been told otherwise.
"I've been repeatedly reassured by Gene Moser, who's the director of human resources, that Paul Salazar will be reinstated as a motorcoach operator," Livingston said Wednesday.
After Berry's statement, Livingston said: "It is disheartening that the administration of Mayor Berry is apparently as willing to engage in deceit and baseless fearmongering and to renege on its commitments as the prior administration of Martin Chávez.
"Certainly, this is not the end of the story."
But Livingston said putting Salazar back on a bus at this point might prove difficult:
"Because your paper (referring to a Tuesday Journal editorial), Greg Payne, probably Marty Chávez and others have done everything they can to inflame the public to think that if they get on the bus or they allow their child to ride on the bus and it's driven by Paul Salazar that then he's going to rape or molest their children," he said.
"That would just create such a hostile atmosphere for Paul to drive a bus that it seems to me that the city is going to have to figure out something else."
Salazar said he was innocent of the molestation accusations, which were brought by an ex-wife, Livingston said.
Salazar was indicted in 2004 on charges of criminal sexual penetration of a child under 13 and criminal sexual contact of a minor. He reached a no-contest plea agreement to attempted sexual contact of a minor in 2006. He received an 18-month sentence of probation and a conditional discharge, which meant the charges would be dismissed once he finished his probation, which occurred.

Would Berry Put His Kid on This Guy's Bus?

Here's a tip for David Campbell, the city of Albuquerque's chief administrative officer and Mayor Richard Berry's right-hand man:
Just because the city personnel board and a state judge say you have to re-hire a convicted sex offender because somebody failed to cross a "t" or dot an "i" when firing him doesn't mean you have to hand him back the keys to a bus residents put their children on. Common sense — and the city attorney — say so.
Paul Salazar was indicted in 2004 on charges of criminal sexual penetration of a child under 13 and criminal sexual contact of a minor. He cut a deal with prosecutors two years later and pleaded no contest to the reduced charge of attempted criminal sexual contact of a minor. His record was cleared after he completed 18 months of probation. While his plea had the same effect as pleading guilty, he says he's innocent. And while he was fired in 2007 for not telling the city he had pleaded to a sex offense, the independent hearing officer, the personnel board and a state judge agreed he should be rehired with back pay.
Campbell says reinstating Salazar means "we've done what the court and what the personnel board have said we are to do."
But City Attorney Bob White says the city simply has to find a job for the re-hire; it does not have to be the same job. At last count there were around 320 unfilled city jobs because of budget woes; it's likely one of them offers a kid-free zone to put Salazar.
While the current result is good for Salazar, it isn't exactly a ringing endorsement for why parents should trust public transit to get their children safely to the library or the pool or an after-school program or job. It's a pretty dubious advertisement for the city's upcoming Summer Fun youth bus passes.
And it's exactly why the city fired Salazar in 2007. Why former Mayor Martin Chávez said "this guy is not going to be around kids. Not while I am mayor. This is outrageous. What parent wants their kid on a bus with someone like that?"
Campbell should get his boss, Mayor Berry, and public safety chief Darren White to answer to that question.

Mayor Berry gives in, Paul Salazar gets a big gift

Well,

If anyone watched the 10pm news tonight, they saw a familiar face. Christmas came early for former driver, Paul Salazar. Paul was fired because he pled no contest to molesting his 2 year old, which is essentially admitting guilt. The city just cut a deal with him to make him a driver again and give him his job back, and also give him 2 YEARS of back pay. That's a lot of money when they're talking about giving the hard workers who are honest furloughs and firings.

Rizzieri has gone WAY over the line, letting this happen. It looks as though he has no fight left in him, and is just letting in and giving a total scum his job back and FREE money. This is not right, and someone should do something about it. Mayor Berry, where are hyou on this one? This is a terrible, terrible thing that should never have happened. Everyone better watch bringing their children to any transit facility that this scumbag will be at. Paul Salazar should never be givin his job back, let alone get 2 years of back pay which is probably about 60,000 to 70,000 dollars in cash. Thats enough to pay 2 other and honest people for a year.

Shame on you, management.

Danny Gonzales

So, it looks like Danny picking up Annette's kid, as well as roumered other "friends of transit kids", has paid off. Danny is the assistant operations manager, an m-14 postion...yet he gets his own office. He is the ONLY m-14 that gets an office. We here at the eye think that is just unfair and a clear favoritism from his overloard Annette. Is Danny that good in the sack Annette, or is it just his babysitter duties, while on the job (Maybe management should look into this as it is very illegal and a waste of taxpayer dollars)? Let us know what you think.

Driver on the Committee

Our eyes tell us that the committee to select the new supervisor has a driver on it, put on by Bruce Rizzieri. Let me be the first to say THANK YOU Mr. Rizzieri! Finally, one of the blue collared workers gets some input. This is a democracy, and this week Mr. Rizzieri proved that. Well done sir, we thank you and hope this trend will continue.

Selinda finally getting what she deserves?!?

So we've been hearing rumours for weeks...but it looks like Selinda Guerrero (we finally got her name right!;-)), might finally be getting what she deserves after screwing SO MANY people over for many years. Our eyes tell us she is being investigated by Director Rizzieri for her year long spree of driving city vehicles while having a suspended license for driving while intoxicated. We'd guess, with the 5 or 6 kids she has (all by different father we assume), that she's carting them around in city vehicles as well. Maybe something to add to the investigation. Karma's a bitch, as they say, and it looks like it's finally coming around to slam Selinda in her big ass. About time; she's ruined too many lives to count.

someone from Transit that I still talk to sent me the link to the blog. I'm glad you have an outlet for your frustrations, however I can't jump on the bandwagon of hurting anyone there, not even Selinda. I've cried too much over what has happened to me and others in the time that I worked there.

The poll is in, and the results are a bit surprising. Bill Slausen made a late surge to come in tied for first with Annette Paez, both getting 37%. Not surprising was Annette, we're sure Annette had as many people vote for her as possible. Connie Jones came in 2nd with 13%, and Nick Manole had a few people (maybe his man lover) vote for him with 6%. Clarence Decker came in with a not surprisingly 1 vote and 1%, and poor keith perry only finished with 0%. Apparently his ex-wives didn't vote for him. The biggest thing we take from this, is that Annette desperately wants the associate director job, and will do ANYTHING to get it, and the people, the real workers at transit want someone else, from the outside like Bill Slausen.

Layoffs and "management"

First off, we'd like to thank all of our readers for commenting and contributing to our new source of information at ABQ Ride. We're approaching the end of our first week up, and you've all help make it a HUGE success. (We're working on our spelling, by the way. A friend told us if we first right it in microsoft word, it will tell us most of the errors). So today, we got word from our sources and eyes on the 11th floor, that layoffs and furloughs are inevitable. With a budget deficit of close to 50 million dollars possible, and our new Mayor beating marty Chavez as a "fiscal conservative", there is now just no choice. Our eyes tell us that transit, solid waste and cultural services will take the first big blows.

We all know the city has big budget issues. We hear Mayor Barry is starting to look at layoffs. Anyone who been through this process before (which seems like every other year) knows its the real workers who get cut first. Drivers and mechanics mostly.

Meanwhile people with high paying jobs that have next to nothing to do with what we are supposed to be doing like moving buses and keeping them moving don't get touched.

We suggest something different.

1. What does Marketing Manager Keith Perry do all day long? We know he's out of the atc before 5 everyday (must be nice). what does he do that's more important than keeping a few drivers and mechanics employed?

2. What about all those IT people? Have you ever tried getting them to help fix a computer? What about when we need them when you can't reach them?

3. Security. What a joke! If you were ever in real trouble would any of us call Clarence Decker?

4. We loved the comment about Danny Gonzales "picking up a lot of friends kids for school". Do we need all the road supervisors we've got? If Danny likes driving so much why don't we get him behind the wheel of a bus or a van! Then he can pick up everyones kids!

Before we screw the workers, why don't we look at the people who think they're so great but don't really do anything? (mr. rizzieri, we;re looking to you on leadership for this)

Illegal Job Assignments and Daddy Day Care?

If you're hired to be a doctor no one would expect the hospital you work in to have you go fix the toilets and do the plumber's job. Yet this is done all the time at Transit. Celinda Guerrero, our personnel office, has this as one of her favorite tricks. If she doesn't like someone they get "temporarily" transferred to clean buses, toilets or work in some area far outside there job description. The union said this would stop with Bruce Rizzieri the new director but the practice is still going on with people being transferred to jobs they weren't hired to do.

There is no question this practice is illegal andmust be stoped. Who in this department will end it and return power the employees who are supposed too be treated differently than we are?

Are last item was sent to us by an anonymous e-mail. We are told that supervisor Danny Gonzales (may or may not be her lover) picks up and takes Annette Paez's kid to school everyday. If its true that may be one of the most illegal job assignments in the department. If its true and Gonzales becomes the assistant operations manager someone could and should sue the city.

Rizzieri OPPOSES free speech!!!

lots of us were thinking it would be ok to Director Rizzieri taking over from Greg Payne. We thought he was a nice guy who wouldn't stir the boat to much. That was until he made one of the better mechanics at Transit apologize for sending an e-mail to ABQ Ride employees about our last director. Rizzieri really screwed this mechanic by forcing him to apologize to the entire department and even payne himself.

City employees have rights and one of those is there 5th amendment right to free speech. If Rizzieri continues to act like an overloard and not a boss we can work with and respect, he should plan on us taking our complaints to Mayor Berry and the City Council.

We will not put up with another four years like the four we just had to go through!

Cast of Characters:

Director Bruce Rizzieri: Bruce was just appointed by the new Mayor and seems like a nice enough guy I guess. But he seems to only care about cutting budgets. Things were bad before, but now they seem to be getting worse. We realize that is important in these times to cut costs, but this guy seems to really want to gut the place and really doesn't care about the riders, drivers or blue collar workers. Seems really mediocre.

Former Director Greg Payne: This place was getting bad under Payne. He was so arrogant and always thought he was right and everyone else is wrong. He was constantly trying to screw the unions and the workers, and only seemed to really care about the few people that worked with him up in management at the ATC. Glad he's gone.

Associate Director Ken Cox: Retired...thank god! No more Ken, he was a real jerk...don't know one person that liked him.

Annette Paiz: Annette is in charge of operations. She's never at work, or when she is she's always got her kid with her. She's having an affair with Danny Gonzalez is what we hear, and has been for quite some time. She, like many that work at transit, will stab you in the back to get ahead. What a beaurocratic leech.

Keith Perry: This guy is in charge of marketing and planning, and he's a real loser. He's got like 5 ex-wives and he does whatever anyone says. Not much personality either. If we were him we'd just give up on life at this point, and it seems he already has. The guy stands around waiting for 5 oclock to hit and looks at his watch, he doesn't really do much. this guy is really just another beaureaucratic idiot.

Dennis Stump: this guy is in charge of all the facilities and really let us have it when he got power. Before Dennis, people had better hours and fun bbq's out back at Daytona. Now he's like a dictator. He gives everyone crappy hours and really is more concerned with just looking good at the ATC. Thanks for stickin' with us Dennis, we really appreciate it.

Fred Garcia: Here's another one. This guy just drives around all day acting like a big shot and sending in complaints about drivers that are total bullcrap. He's been having a affair with stephanie gonzalez for a long time too...but most people know about this.

celinda Guerrero: THis chick is the worst. She tries to screw everyone over and only get her friends hired. Btw, we've seen her out partying and she's a total slut. Also, lose some wait already and stop thinking your attractive. Your ugly and your fat. Also, our eyes tell us that Ms. Guerrero hasn't had a drivers license in about a year, due to a DWI. And now she's going to reap the whirlwind because of it...which serves her right after screwing so many employees and potential employees over, for all these years.

Randy Giron: this guy is such an eff-up. The yale facility is totally screwed up because of him, so many issues and it's mostly because this guy is such an idiot. Not to mention he regularly meets with Desiree from marketing over there, something is definitely going on with those 2, probably a sexual affair. What we here she's a idiot herself, so that makes sense.

Nick Manole: we had never seen this guy too much until lately he started coming by to put books on the buses or some other stupid thing the "marketing" department claims helps the department. this guy is really weird. we heard he is married but he's always with some guy and they act like they are boyfriends. one time one of our eyes even saw them kissing. a word of advice, go back to ATC and leave everyone a lone nick.

other issues:

union: these guys don't do anything to stand up for the workers, and that's the whole point of them! They take our dues and they don't do squat. Enough said.

salaries: we've researched it, and the private sector pays about twice what mechanics get paid. That is just not fair, and the city should do something about it. but with all the cost cutting these days because of the socalled bad economy, I guess blue collar workers will just continue to get screwed.

sleeping around: it seems most people in transit are having secret affairs, and a lot of them married. unlike the guy nick manole we mentioned, at least most of these are between a man and a woman. a lot of people who work in this department seem to think cheating on their wives and husbands with other coworkers is ok, but its pretty messed up we think.
